It’s always nice to see old friends and classmates, especially if the place is far from where you actually knew each other. And my get-together with my high school batch-mates last week was no exception. Antonette, Laarni, Sharon and I have been in Dubai for several years already, but due to our busy schedules, we haven’t been able to see each other as often as we wanted.
Our first get-together was back in 2007 (or maybe early 2008) when Nyoy Volante came to Dubai for a show. Perfect timing, because Nyoy also belonged to our batch, so it was a good reunion for all of us. Since then, we’ve had only 2 get-togethers, the last one being late 2009. Two other batch-mates, Carlo and Maan, had also come to Dubai then, but unfortunately they couldn’t make it, so it was just us original girls with our partners. And finally, after almost 3 years, we got the chance to meet up again, this time because Cheryl was in town for a visit. Carlo had gone back to the Philippines, but everyone else was still here, and Love had been in Dubai for around 2 years already, so it was a great time to see each other again. So we decided to meet up for dinner at Max’s Restaurant in Bur Dubai…but then, unfortunately, Maan and Love weren’t able to follow.
But still, we had a great time catching up on the latest with each other’s lives. And of course, it wouldn’t be a (mini) reunion without reminiscing the good old high school days, with stories of the teachers and other classmates. Ahh…high school life!
