Post-Birthday Weekend Stay at Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah

Unlike the past years, we didn’t have any party or “big” celebration for Sophie’s 3rd birthday this year. I simply took the day off to take her for a date at Dubai Mall; and then in the evening when Hubby got off work, our family had dinner at TGIFriday’s (more about this in a separate post, I promise). However, we were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend the weekend after her birthday at Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah, so this treat was simply perfect timing.

Our stay was for the first 3 days of October, from Thursday to Saturday. Naturally, being the last day of the workweek and the building that caught fire that afternoon, we expected to arrive at the resort pretty late because of the traffic, and yes, we did. However, we did manage to avoid most of the main roads that had really heavy traffic. Caila and Sophie both fell asleep on the way, but as soon as we arrived and I told them we had finally reached the “nice, nice house,” they became all excited and re-energized.

Upon entering the lobby, we instantly felt the hotel was buzzing with activity.  Apparently, there were three wedding parties going on (and another one was scheduled to take place the next night) so this showed how popular the place was.

Check-in was a breeze; however, we had to wait a few minutes for them to “make sure that the room and everything in it was ready.” No problems with that, though. It gave us time to look around a bit.
Pretty soon, the lady at the Reception told us we could go up, and seeing that the hotel trolley still had some space, Caila enthusiastically climbed on for a ride, much to the amusement of the bellboy
Our room was on the 9th floor, giving us a nice view of the entire lobby and their all-day restaurant with the waterfalls
I liked that each floor had a sofa set and table just outside the lifts where guests could just sit and talk, or read a book, or simply wait for the elevator to arrive.
Except for the lack of a bathtub (which Caila said was the only thing she didn’t like about the place), our Standard Room, whose wooden furniture gave a traditional Arabic feel, had all the basics.
The following day, we went down for breakfast at Café at the Falls. If you go through the lobby and take the stairs down to the restaurant, you can’t miss the waterfalls. Which is why the girls asked to stay a bit so they could stare and watch the fish swimming around.
We finally pried them away, and we walked to the restaurant where the usual breakfast spread was available for diners and guests to choose from.
fruits and cereals
beverages
breads and pastries
ham slices
omelette station
Some of the hot menu items that were available: fried rice, corned beef, sausages, waffles
About to enjoy her rich cup of hot chocolate
Once we had our fill, we headed to the Bay Club to see the beach and 4 temperature-controlled pools
One of the two children's pools
One of the two big pools
Having fun with the fish sculptures near the other children's pool
Full view of Children's Pool #2
Partial view of the other big pool
And then we went back to our room to change…and then went back down to the pools again for some fun in the water.  All the girls wanted to do was swim. Even though they were practically shivering from staying too long, they still didn’t want to get out.
Look at Sophie and you'll see what I mean.  After this picture, we went out immediately.
Later in the afternoon, Sophie and I went down again to explore the hotel. She was in the mood to pose, so I took advantage by taking her pictures.
We didn’t go down to the falls anymore, though. We saw that an interview was going on, finding out later that it was HRH ‪Princess‬ ‪‎Haya‬ Bint Al Hussein!

The following morning, we had breakfast again at Café at the Falls. This time, we opted to sit inside the hut just beside the sprinkler/fountain where the girls enjoyed watching a turtle swim around.
Another restaurant we visited was The Terrace.  We didn't eat there, though.  We just stayed inside for a while because it was a nice, cool place to hang around in.

After swimming (again!), we had lunch at...where else? Café at the Falls! Aside from The Terrace and Café at the Falls, the hotel had other restaurants for us to choose from, but our girls (Caila, especially) wanted to take advantage of the opportunity of dining near a waterfall. Well, as long as it gets them to eat a lot, we’ll eat anywhere ☺
Freshly baked bread that we consumed almost immediately
Their Caesar salad with Grilled Chicken was delicious!
Spaghetti Carbonara, which the girls ate and ate and ate
Oriental Mixed Grill
Before we knew it, it was time to leave.  The bellboy promptly came up to our room with the trolley, the girls scrambled on for a ride, and we checked out without any problems.  It was a great, relaxing weekend with the family, just the way we all wanted it to be.
