Sisters in Switzerland: Crowne Plaza Zurich

As I mentioned in my previous post, Ate Ning and I stayed in Crowne Plaza Zurich during the first half of our trip.

Staff & Service
Despite our tired bodies when we arrived at the hotel on our first day, we couldn’t help feeling energized by the cheerful Guest Relations staff who warmly greeted us as soon as we entered the lobby. When we told them it was our first time ever in Switzerland, they were more than happy to assist us.

Like most hotels, they have contacts with local tour companies; and once we decided what we wanted to do on our second day, they made the arrangements and explained how to reach the pick-up point. We didn’t have to worry about anything else.

On our third day, check-out was a breeze, and again the Concierge helpfully described how and where we needed to go for the next part of our trip.

The Room
My sister had booked us in a Standard Room, but we later realized that we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite!☺

Compared to the spacious suites in Dubai hotels, our room was quite small. However, we didn’t mind since we weren’t going to spend most of our stay there anyway. As long as it was clean, had beds big enough for both of us, ample space in the bathroom, and good airconditioning, that was fine for us.

a bottle of water and 2 sprays (in that small box) that apparently helped people get some shut-eye
things you need to make a hot cup of drink
The room also had a desk and chair, and a small area with a leather sofa set and coffee table which I forgot to take a picture of.  Below is an image from the hotel's website just so you have an idea what it looks like.

Buffet Breakfast
Included in our rate was daily buffet breakfast at Letzi Leu. Since our bodies were still jetlagged during the first couple of days, we always woke up early. Thus, we were always the first ones at the restaurant, giving us the chance to enjoy their wide selection fresh and hot off the grill, pan, and oven while taking in the quiet atmosphere.
One of the things Ate Ning and I indulged in during our breakfasts were croissants. They were oh so crispy and flaky, with just a hint of butter. One piece was simply not enough for each of us.  In short…yum!
We didn’t see or try the rest of the hotel’s facilities due to the short time we spent in the property, but generally we had a comfortable stay. This was made even more pleasant thanks to the hospitable staff who were very patient in answering all our questions and were never without a smile to greet the guests.

Disclaimer: We enjoyed a discounted rate at Crowne Plaza Zurich, and although we had no obligation to review the property, I wanted to share our experience on my blog. Views and opinions are my own.
