I Have My Reasons

It's been a year since my last post?! Whoops! My bad. However, I do have a valid reason why I've been on hiatus this long. Well, two reasons actually.

If you read my last couple of posts, you'll know that I was pregnant then, and ergo, I gave birth. And everyone knows how having a baby keeps you busy and tired. So much that even though you have a nanny to help, all you want to do when you have free time is sleep, right? Well, right now is one of the rare moments when I pushed myself to stay awake and update this blog while the little prince is sleeping and this laptop isn't being used, so here I am 😊

So that's my first reason.

If you've been following me on Instagram and Facebook (if not, please do. Just click that Follow or Like button 😊), you'll know that the second reason is my family and I were busy packing and getting rid of all the things we accumulated over the past 16 years in Dubai, saying goodbye to our jobs and good friends there, and transitioning to our new life in the Great White North.
Yup, we're now here in Canada.

Hubby was offered a job in Burnaby, BC which is practically the exact same thing he was already doing in Dubai, so we grabbed the opportunity and moved our family here. Fortunately, his new employer was very helpful and understanding, giving us enough time to take care of things, processing Hubby's work permit, and shouldering the expenses for our visas. I'll try to blog about the details of this (well, whatever I can share) when I have the time. Meanwhile, if you have questions about the process, just ask by commenting below and I'll try to answer them in my post later.

Now, after 4 months in the country, we've pretty much settled. Home is a 3-bedroom basement suite that we're renting, our girls are already in school (via online/distance learning), our stuff from Dubai recently arrived so we've started to slowly unpack, and I'm getting used to being a full-time stay-at-home-mom without any helper.  Yes, that means that I can now whip up some dishes that my family can eat without complaining or getting sick 😊
It just sucks that we have this world pandemic which has stopped us from going out to visit friends and relatives (my brother and his family live nearby), taking the kids to the playgrounds on weekends, and exploring the area.
Speaking of which, what safety measures have you been practicing? And how are you all coping with staying indoors for so long, especially with young kids? If you tell me you're going crazy, I completely understand. No judgement 😊

I just hope and pray a vaccine for this COVID-19 is discovered really soon so we can go back to our normal lives...or as others are saying: the new normal.

Anyway, I have to end this post now because the little one has begun to stir, and in a few minutes he'll wake up demanding to be fed. Thanks for staying and I'll try to update this blog really soon. Meanwhile, please keep safe and healthy. And if you're a frontliner, thank you so much for what you're doing. You really deserve a big salute! God bless you guys!

  1. Congratulations on your move to Canada :) Please do share your experience in future posts your move from UAE and transition to Canada, packing, house hunting, unpacking and settling in. How is it for you and the kids settling in a new place? It is great you have relatives and friends living nearby.
