Friday Lazy Brunch at The Market Place, Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf

Although Dubai is known to be fast-paced and busy because of so many things to see and do, the city slows down on Fridays because it's the weekend.  During the morning and afternoon, the roads are clear, people are more relaxed, and unless we have activities or appointments, most of us prefer to do our own things at our own leisurely pace.

Such was the case when we went to Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf two Fridays ago to sample their brunch.  Aptly called the Friday Lazy Brunch, diners can take their own sweet time trying the wide variety of dishes that are spread all throughout The Market Place, conveniently located at the hotel's ground floor.
Wanting to make the most of it, our family of four arrived at 12:40pm.  I thought we were early, but I saw there were already quite a number of people walking around and helping themselves as we were shown to our table.

While Hubby and our girls started filling their plates with the food from the nearest selection, I opted to take a look around to explore the choices first before diving in.

Boasting of international cuisines, there were dishes from Japan, China, India, and the Middle East. Since they had a live station where diners could ask for their choice of pasta, grilled seafood or meat, I asked for spaghetti carbonara because Sophie loves pasta, and grilled salmon and sirloin steak for me and Hubby. For our pizza lover, I asked one of the chefs to make a small cheese pizza as Caila looked on.
Of course the best part for me and my girls was the dessert.  With stations filled with decadent cakes, ice cream, pastries and other sweet treats, we had our sugar fix enough to last the entire weekend.
Fortunately, despite the brunch’s name, the servers and chefs were not lazy. When we arrived, I noticed many of them were standing around the stations ready to greet and assist. I didn’t have to wait long for our requests of creamy pasta, perfectly grilled food and pizza to be served to our table, and our emptied plates and glasses were always promptly taken.

Generally, the food was delicious. With lots of options to choose from, diners will definitely find dishes they'll like and go back and take seconds (or more!) helpings of. And I liked that the food was spread out throughout the restaurant. It allowed us to walk around and explore The Market Place each time we emptied our plates.

The only thing missing was activities for the kids. Good thing Sophie was prepared with her own means of entertainment ☺
The Friday Lazy Brunch takes place from 12:30pm to 4pm. Prices are Dhs175 (with soft beverages), Dhs405 (with sparkling, house beverages, hops & cocktails), and 50% off for kids 6 to 12 years old. Children under 6 years eat for free.

A late brunch also takes place between 6:30pm and 11pm for those who like to start their Fridays really late ☺

Disclaimer: We were invited to try the Friday Lazy Brunch as guests, and although I was not obliged to do so, I wanted to share our experience on my blog. All views and opinions are my own.
