Shayan Restaurant's Meter Kebab

Thankful and fortunate, Hubby and I joined other media, press, and bloggers at Shayan Restaurant’s launch of their newest offering last week.

I like that this restaurant in Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana unites the traditions of two of the most ancient and prominent culinary cultures of the Middle East: Lebanon and Iran. Fusing authentic kitchen techniques and flavours with contemporary design and modern presentation, this restaurant provides a culinary experience to diners like no other.
We were seated in one of the semi-private dining areas.  And as soon as we were settled, assorted dishes were served as appetizers to start off the dinner.
my constant date
fresh vegetables with Borani Esfenaj (thick yoghurt with spinach and spices)
Kashk E Bademjan (special aged cheese curd mixed with grilled eggplant, seasoned with traditional spices)
Cheese Sambousek
Sambousek
And then the star of the night was presented…made up of various Lebanese and Iranian grilled meat on Arabic bread with fries and grilled vegetables. I couldn’t help thinking that if the Philippines has the Boodle Fight, the Middle East has the Meter Kebab.
After everyone from our table had taken a proper picture (which understandably took a while ☺), we all sat down and feasted on the spread in front of us. Our palates surely enjoyed the very tender Joojeh Kebab, succulent Lamb Bonanza, and beef cubes.
No matter how full I am, I always have space for dessert which, I was glad to discover, was a buffet spread of pastries, cakes, fruits, Umm Ali (of course!), and so many other delicacies for each of the guests’ sweet tooth.
Just like my past experiences at the hotel’s events, I had a delightful time. The food was great, of course. But the opportunity to meet new people (as well as see familiar faces) with similar interests as you is always an added bonus.

You can also enjoy the Meter Kebab from Dhs139 at Shayan Restaurant.  Just click here or call 04-2933000 for reservations.
