#GPinCanada: Alouette Lake

On the first Sunday of our vacation, we went to Alouette Lake at Golden Ears Provincial Park where Kuya Boy, Ate Mel, and their group of friends from their church had scheduled a get-together there. Since there were 8 of us and we couldn’t all fit in one car without breaking the law, Hubby drove my brother’s new SUV (making use of his international driving licence for the first time) while Kuya drove their sedan.

On the way, we enjoyed so many beautiful countryside views.  I couldn't help but be amazed, excited and thankful at what we were seeing.  Everything looked so serene!

From BC Parks, As one of the largest parks in the province, Golden Ears Provincial Park is prized for its recreational opportunities. The extensive system of trails within the park provides an excellent opportunity for hiking and horseback riding. Alouette Lake is a popular spot for swimming, windsurfing, water-skiing, canoeing, boating and fishing. The park also has three large campgrounds. Vegetation is typical of the coastal western Hemlock forest of B.C. and the mountainous backcountry is extremely rugged.

Being a Sunday, many people had made the same plans, so the good spots (benches, tables and shady areas) were already occupied by the time we arrived.

Luckily though, some of their friends were already there and had found a shady area under some trees.

After lunch, the group broke up. Some went swimming, some played volleyball, some just stayed and chatted with each other, and some lay down for a nap. As for us, we ventured into the woods where the tall trees were to take some pictures.

Caila came upon a log which she walked across several times, pretending to be a gymnast.

Seeing that her sister was enjoying herself, Sophie did the same thing...with Hubby's support, of course.

Alouette Lake is definitely a great place to spend a relaxing weekend with family and friends. You can do so many things, or do nothing at all…and you’ll still enjoy yourself. Especially if you’re a nature lover (or simply one who misses being surrounded by green trees and plants and blue bodies of water) like me.  You just need to arrive early to get a nice spot ☺
