Iftar at Liwan Restaurant

During the first week of Ramadan this year, I was fortunate to have received an invitation to an Iftar event for press and bloggers at Liwan Restaurant in Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana. Hubby (my constant +1) had someplace else to go to, so I asked one of my good friends Ann to go with me.

We arrived at the restaurant at 7:15pm, but already the venue was buzzing with people...and camel statues =)

Ferry, our host, led us to a table where we sat beside Lady Ann (of Lady and her Sweet Escapes), her husband Ed, and Doc Gelo (of DocGelo.com). Soon after, we were joined by other bloggers…some I met before, but most I met for the first time that night. We were a happy group that blended well with the lively atmosphere as everyone enjoyed the delicious spread of international and Ramadan specialties.

We were seated near the stage, giving us an uninterrupted view of live Arabic entertainment.

That night, I realized I would most probably fail as a food blogger…because as I took pictures of the sumptuous buffet, I couldn’t help fighting off the temptation of grabbing a plate and filling it with all the yummy delicacies.

It was my first time to try Moroccan tea and it instantly became my favorite drink that night.

In the end, the temptation was too strong to resist (after all, the food looked so good and I could see people enjoying whatever they were eating) so I just put down my camera and helped myself with almost everything I saw.

As expected, the entire Iftar buffet was absolutely sumptuous! And with such a wide selection (it's just not too obvious here because I didn't take that many pictures ☺), you’ll definitely get your money’s worth at Dhs149 per person.
